2012-05-31. EBSCO Publishing brings Associated Press Images Collection to library customers. [EBSCO Publishing] EBSCO Publishing will make millions of images from the Associated Press available to library customers. EBSCO has been named the sole library distributor of the AP Images, the commercial photo unit of AP. It is one of the world’s largest collections of historical and contemporary imagery including more than twelve million photographs dating back more than 100 years.

[Serials Solutions] Serials Solutions announced that Paul Brennan has joined the company as Senior Director, Content Operations. [Innovative Interfaces, Inc.] Innovative Interfaces announced that development for its new institutional repository module, Content Pro IRX, is complete and several library partners will begin beta testing this month. 2012-05-28. Clackmannanshire Council joins SEDAR, the Scottish consortium of public libraries. [PTFS Europe] Clackmannanshire Council Library Service is to join SEDAR, the Scottish consortium of public libraries in sharing the Evergreen library management system. Evergreen (Koha)will replace an in-house developed system known as OWL that has served the council for many years. PTFS Europe will provide a range of implementation services, integrating the libraries within the existing SEDAR consortium and providing annual support. The system will be hosted at the PTFS Europe data centre in Manchester.

2012-05-28. C/W MARS and NOBLE are live on Evergreen. [Massachusetts Library Network Cooperative] C/W MARS and NOBLE consortia in Massachusetts have migrated to Evergreen. They joined a third MassLNC consortium, MVLC, which moved to the open-source system in May 2011. These two migrations bring Evergreen to 183 libary systems in the state of Massachusetts.

[Ex Libris] Ex Libris announced that the Saxon State and University Library Dresden has chosen to preserve the digital assets of the Saxon libraries with Ex Libris Rosetta. SLUB is the legal deposit library of the Free State of Saxony and works closely with the Dresden Digitization Center, one of Germany’s leading centers of mass digitization.

2012-05-23. Australian Public Library chooses Koha. [Calyx] Shire of Derby West Kimberley has become the first local government area in Australia to choose Koha to support the delivery of its public library services. The Shire has established public libraries at Derby and Fitzroy Crossing to support access to information services by its diverse and geographically dispersed community. CALYX information essentials has been contracted to provide Koha services including software implementation and configuration, data conversion, training and ongoing support. The system will be hosted off site inCALYX’ state of the art data centre. Derby and Fitzroy Crossing Public libraries are expected to be live on Koha before July 2012.

2012-05-08. Pioneer Consortium grows to 24 libraries on LibLime Koha. [LibLime] LibLime announced the twenty fourth library of the Pioneer Consortium to join the Pioneer LibLime Koha union catalog. Since May of 2011, the Pioneer Consortium, a group of public libraries throughout Nebraska, has worked with LibLime to build a union catalog from separate ILS databases, and add member libraries. The original group of eleven public libraries went live on LibLime Koha on in the spring of 2011. At that point, the new union catalog had just over 300,000 bibliographic records and nearly 900,000 item records.

2012-05-03. Vermont Organization of Koha Automated Libraries continues to add members. [ByWater Solutions] The Vermont Organization of Koha Automated Libraries, is a project of the Green Mountain Library Consortium dedicated to creating a shared catalog and Integrated Library System. The project took flight in late 2007 with the installation of 3 stand-alone Koha instances to replace the libraries’ legacy Follett systems and another 4 libraries automating into Koha through 2009. In 2010, VOKAL launched Vermont’s first union catalog hosted and supported by ByWater Solutions with the majority of the implementations being undertaken in-house by the talented and forward-thinking VOKAL implementation team. VOKAL already has roughly 8 additional libraries slated to be migrated into their Koha union catalog by the end of 2012.
