Invitation to the ELAG 2002 seminar

Dear ELAG members,

It is my great pleasure to inform you that the 26th ELAG Library Systems Seminar will take place in Roma, from 17 to 19 April 2002. Livia Borghetti, the director of the Central National Library, invited us to come and discuss the "The semantic Web and Libraries" and related topics in the inspiring capital of Italy.

All meetings are scheduled in the Central National Library located at : Viale Castro Pretorio, 105. Maria Gaia Gajo, public relations officer (accoglienza@bnc.roma.sbn.it), takes care of the local organisation.

You received the programme of the meeting via a separate e-mail.
Please find the information about the registration formalities and about the preparation of the progress reports, workshops and papers in the appendix to this letter: "How to prepare your participation to the ELAG 2002 meeting".

The Board meeting, to which all those who want to contribute to the planning of the future activities of ELAG are cordially invited, will take place on Tuesday 16 April at 13h30. Among others the setting up of the programme for next years ELAG meeting is on the agenda.

My I ask your attention for the fact that the organisers, the colleagues in Roma and myself, should greatly appreciate the participants to respect all dates in preparing the meeting, as indicated in the appendix. The dinner on Thursday 18 April (cost about 33€) needs reservation. Please register in time if you want to join.
We expect a great number of participants and count on your fair co-operation in the administrative preparation of the meeting.

Please also note that April is high tourist season in Rome, so book your hotel as soon as possible.

How to prepare your participation to the ELAG 2002 meeting?

1. REGISTRATION

Please fill in the registration form at the ELAG 2002 WEB-site of IFNET srl in Firenze :

Attention!
the registration list will be closed on March 15

the final date for booking the Thursday dinner is March 15

Please pay for the dinner when you register in Roma, on April 17

2. PROGRESS REPORTS

It is the usage that each institution, group of organisations or country reproduces a report on the progress made during the last year in the field of library automation.
Please use, for the redaction of this document, the form, which will soon be available on the ELAG 2002 WEB-site.
The deadline for the reports is April 1. Documents added afterwards will be available on the WEB and published in the ELAG report, but not discussed during the round-table sessions of the seminar.

The participants are recommended to read these reports, before coming to the meeting. During the round-table sessions the participants have the opportunity to openly discuss these documents with the persons who wrote them.

3. WORKSHOPS

Those participants taking care of a workshop are requested to send in a discussion paper on the subject of the workshop before the March 15 to Marzio Pinzauti the Webmaster:

4. PAPERS

The speakers are kindly requested to send their paper before April 10.
